Inspiring our children and the makers of tomorrow through hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) experiences
The purpose of the centre is to promote STEM subjects and inspire the next generation. It will provide opportunities for pupils from local schools at primary and secondary levels to gain hands-on experience in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths subjects.
Schools will be able to share the use of the facility and resources, making this solution affordable for educators across the district. It will also enable practitioners to participate and add real world experience to academic studies.
It will be accessible during school time for teachers to work alongside volunteers from industry and business in delivering sessions to support curriclar activities. It will also be accessible for extracurricular activity after school as a STEM club to help pupils wishing to explore subjects further.
It is also intended that special STEM club events involing local industry and business will be held during vacations for children to explore subjects with family and friends, and experts from local industries, business and colleges.
